The deal
Money you invest through a tax-free savings account grows with zero tax on the growth. No tax on interest, no tax on dividends, no capital gains tax when you sell. Ever. Outside a TFSA, tax quietly shaves your returns every year; inside one, every rand of growth stays yours.
The limits: you can contribute up to R46 000 per tax year, and R500 000 over your lifetime. Dreamer keeps count for you, so a round-up never takes you over the line.
Why it suits round-ups perfectly
The TFSA rewards exactly the behaviour round-ups create: steady, automatic contributions left alone for years. You do not need a lump sum. Spare change, collected weekly and invested tax-free, is the most tax-efficient money you will ever save - built from coffees.
The mistake that burns your limit
Here is the one rule to tattoo somewhere visible: never withdraw from a TFSA planning to put it back, and never cash one out to move providers. Contributions are counted gross for life - take out R50 000 and re-deposit it, and SARS counts the re-deposit as new contribution. You just burned R50 000 of your R500 000 lifetime allowance for nothing.
Moving providers has an official, safe mechanism: a Section 12T transfer. The money moves directly between providers and your limits are untouched. Dreamer handles the paperwork when you bring an existing TFSA across.
What lives inside it
A TFSA is a wrapper, not an investment. Inside it you still choose what the money grows in - at Dreamer, any fund on the platform, with its fee shown before you choose. The wrapper decides how the growth is taxed; the fund decides how it grows. You choose both.
Projections are estimates based on your current contributions, not guarantees. Your capital is at risk.
