Spare change. Social change.
Our South African Dream
R1 000 000 000
A billion rand, all of it yours.
Out of the jar, into the market
Spare change in a jar stays spare change. Invested, it earns growth, and the growth earns growth. The billion is that habit, counted in public.
Dreams with names on them
The billion is not Dreamer's number. It is a million named dreams: deposits, degrees, three months of cover, a first tax-free year.
Every rand counts
R2.80 from a coffee counts. R13 from a Checkers shop counts. The point of the billion is that no amount is too small to matter.
How a billionadds up.
- 40 000 Dreamers
- investing an average of R450 a month
- R18 000 000
- put away every month
- R216 000 000
- every year
- R1 000 000 000
- inside five years — before growth is counted
Arithmetic, not a forecast. Contributions only; growth is not included, and the counter will count whatever actually happens, at whatever pace it happens.
The billion is not Dreamer’s number. It is all of your dreams.
Deposits. Degrees. Emergency funds. Retirements. Maxing out your TFSA. Every rand on the board is part of someone’s dream — working hard, and compounding.
What counts,and what never will.
Counted
- Round-ups, collected and invested
- Recurring amounts
- Once-off boosts
- Transfers in, including tax-free accounts
Never counted
Dreamer's own money. Fees. Interest on anything Dreamer holds, because Dreamer holds nothing. And no one's balance, ever, on its own: the counter is a total, never a leaderboard.
